When Minnie finds out that the drama department at Mouston Central is going to put on a production of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," she is desperate to audition. And it's not just because she's a big fan of the arts. Minnie has a huge crush on Paul Poser, the dreamy guy who stars in every school play. Paul is a shoo-in for the role of Romeo, and if Minnie wins the role of Juliet, she'll get to kiss Paul onstage!
But then in a "comedy of errors," Daisy gets the part instead, and their friendship becomes quite the "tempest." Can Minnie get over her jealousy and support Daisy's newfound talent? Will Daisy realize that she's stolen the spotlight from her best friend?
Disney’s Minnie and Daisy BFF explores the friendship that Minnie and Daisy had long before they met Mickey and Donald. In Much Ado About Juliet, the two best friends fight over a role in the school’s play. Like anything that even touches on Shakespeare there is a “comedy of errors” that results in Daisy getting the part in the play that Minnie wanted, and while there are bumps in the road, Minnie and Daisy truly are BFFs.
The artwork in this book is simple and to the point. There aren’t as many images as you would find in a graphic novel, but there are enough images to entice a young reader. The language is perfect for the 6-9 year old age range that Disney is aiming for here.
The story was cute, and left a smile on my face even if I am way outside of the target audience’s age. This is one of those stories I would gladly share with any little girl, and is sure to be a favourite.
