The Exodus Towers features all the high-octane action and richly imagined characters of The Darwin Elevator—only the stakes have never been higher.
The Exodus Towers is the thrilling sequel to The Darwin Elevator. And like The Darwin Elevator, this book is full of action and suspense, and alien technology. The story telling is so well written that it’s almost visual and I have no problems losing myself in this strange future with these characters.
There’s another builder event on the horizon, and Skyler is doing his best to not just survive but to help the others survive as well. So when he’s stuck on the ground with some weird things going on and a large group of lawless immunes between him and the rest of the colony he can only assume the worst.
While Skyler is eventually able to save the day it’s at the expense of his budding relationship with Dr. Tania Sharma, and almost all the towers that provide safety for the colony. Skyler sets off on his own with a new, smaller group of immunes who intend to find the missing towers. Meanwhile, things aren’t going well in Darwin, there’s a cult that’s taking over, and a war starting to break out. Things are tense, either way, and it doesn’t help that there is some resentment from Darwin towards the new colony in Exodus.
The characters from book one have been fleshed out more in this book, with flaws and things that are good about them. There is also a brand new cast of people this time around to fill in the missing places from before. A hint of new romance, but still just as much action as before. And still, I would love to see this as a movie! It fills that need for good Science Fiction, because this book is easily one of the best pieces I’ve ever read.
There are still some questions though. Who are the Builders and what do they have planned next? Book three, the conclusion to the Dire Earth Cycle, comes out next month!
